A fungicide bill that matches the crop underneath it

This field had a hard winter. The rape went in late, the temperature dropped below minus 30, and by spring almost half the field had no crop left on it. The living half still needed its fungicide, but a flat rate would have protected a lot of ground with nothing growing on it.

So the map got three zones. Full rate where the crop was strong, half rate where it was thin, nothing where winter had won. The sprayer crossed the field once and used half the product a blanket pass would have.

The proof came at harvest, in his own words after the combine:

“We didn’t have dry conditions this year, and even with that I don’t see a lot of area with diseases, so I am very happy with the results.”

Adrians Solovjevs, agronomist, SIA Jaunā zeme

The rape in August, ready to combine

Result

Half the fungicide on a field where half the crop was gone. The protection went where there was still a crop to protect.
